Premillennialism
-
It suggests that Jesus will return to establish a literal kingdom on
earth and reign for a period of 1000 years. Much of this doctrine comes
from a misinterpretation of some very figurative language in Revelation 20.
Are You a Born
Again Christian?
What other kind of Christian is there?
Jesus told the night visitor Nicodemus, "Unless one is born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God." When Nicodemus expressed his puzzlement,
the Lord explained, "Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he
cannot enter the kingdom of God" (John 3:3-5).
Look Out for the Hook
Satan makes use of our own desires to tempt us, dangling the bait of
anticipated pleasure in front of us. We sin when we yield to the
temptation; we "take the bait" and the body acts to fulfill our sinful
desires.
Second Coming of Christ
In our
religious world there is much debate and many questions concerning the
second coming of Christ. Because of all the misconceptions that are
taught about the second coming of Christ, let us look to the Bible to
see what it has to say about the second coming and the end of time.
Jesus Prays for You
Perhaps you are now suffering under the
realization that you are not as strong as you thought. Maybe you are
being sifted by Satan? Pulled down by your own evil desires? Overwhelmed
by the world? Are you doubtful that you can make it?
If so, focus on these truths, Jesus prays for you and not only does He
pray for you, but He also speaks to you in Scripture. In fact Jesus
promises, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
Quit Your Whining
A poll among believers would surely reveal that the most popular epistle
in the New Testament is the apostle Paul's letter to the Philippians. It
is a favorite of so many because the apostle says many positive things,
especially about joy and rejoicing. Some 15 or 16 times, forms of these
two words are used in just four short chapters.
Why Do
We Go to Church?
Children
may come together because their parents insist that they attend. In
doing so, they learn the importance of meeting together. A husband, a
non-member, may attend because of his wife being a member attends
regularly and vice versa. Some people may attend the assembly in order
to be seen of men as being religious. If this is their reason for
attending, they thereby receive their earthly reward, they are seen of
men. That is all the reward that they will ever receive (Matt. 6). But,
why ought we, as Christians, attend an assembly of the church?
Precious Forgiveness
A loving God created us with this deep-rooted desire to be forgiven when
we do wrong. Without such a desire, we would not seek out God's
forgiveness, which He has made freely available in His Son. Without this
need to rectify our situation, we could not have a relationship with
God, for all have sinned (Rom. 3:23). Nor could we have any form
of relationship with one another, for we would routinely injure and
shame each other with impunity.
Holding Grudges
A grudge is harder on the one who holds it than the one against whom it
is held. If God and Christ can extend mercy to you for your sins, surely
you can be merciful to those who offend you.
I Can Do as I Please
God tells us that we can, indeed, do as we
please. But, only if we accept what comes with it. Notice what happens
when you do as you want, and not what God wants. You can do as you
please, if...
They Kept Right On
For the second time the apostles had been
imprisoned and given strict orders not to do further teaching in the
name of Jesus (Acts 5:28). Now, after their third arrest and facing
almost sure prospects of death, the highly regarded Gamaliel intervenes
in their behalf, resulting in their release with a beating and a warning
to "speak no more in the name of Jesus". The remarkable response of
these dedicated men is seen in the last two verses of Acts 5. Not only
did they rejoice in being considered worthy to suffer for His name, but
"every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on
teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ" (NASV).
