When Is: "The Great and Notable Day of the Lord"
The "last days" is
most often spoken of a final period before something is brought to a
close. Peter said that Joel's prophecy of the "last days" was
being seen as engaged then on that very day as the Spirit was poured out
and then filled the house and filled the apostles with power from on
high (Acts 2:16f).
Pure and Undefiled Religion
According to James it is not just one thing but rather many things that
confirm you have a pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father
(Jas. 1:26,
27).
False Sense of Security
God's
warnings have been given and are being sounded out to a largely
indifferent world which has decided that people will not be punished or
suffer bad things because of violation of the laws of God.
Guilty
of Neglect
The Hebrew
writer poses a question in chapter two verse three. "How shall we
escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" It is this question
that we should ask our selves today and everyday so that we do not
neglect our salvation.
Pray
and Plan
If
we maintain a humble dependence on God, we must also DO all that we can.
By all means we need to pray -- and plan to do our part!
Satan
We need to realize
that Satan is constantly trying to find out what it is that can carry us
away from God. But if we stay tuned into the Word of God then we will be
less susceptible to falling for his devices.
Love God,
Hate Church
If anyone hates the
Lord's church, then he needs to listen to what God has said and believe
what He has said.
Why Go to Worship?
The main reason we go to church for every service is so that we do not
die spiritually.
The Grass is Always Greener
There is a great temptation to spend too much time wishing for another
life that we don't take advantage of the one we have. Paul said,
"...for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content" (Phil.
4:11).
Have You
Heard?
This group occupies a unique and enviable
position, indeed! It is a position based upon and produced by the
infallible Word of God. This group does not occupy this position merely
as their opinion but because the Word of God tells them and all others
to do so. Wouldn't you like to do the same?
Kindness is from the Heart
God is willing and wants to forgive us as
we stumble through our walk of life, but we must be willing to forgive
others first (Matt 6:14-15).

In Your House
If Christ had grown up
in your house,
What
kind of man would He be?
The Law Against Spanking
Today, parents will need courage to stand
against ungodly laws that prohibit the God decreed law of training
children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).
Healing Sick Marriages
Nursing an ailing marriage back to good
health is much harder than just putting it to death by means of a
divorce.
Why Do Marriages Fail?
"For I hate divorce," says the Lord,
the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong," says the
Lord of hosts. "So take heed to your spirit that you do not deal
treacherously" (Malachi 2:16). I doubt many people take heed to what
the Lord says about divorce or there would not be so many today.

Good News
As we open our Bibles and begin to read,
there are “good news” stories from beginning to end. That does not mean that
within its pages there are no stories about the wickedness of men. It does
reveal about man’s evil deeds, yet it also reveals that there is hope for him
through a Savior.
Baptism: A Confession
Perhaps
baptism as taught by Christ and the apostles is seldom thought of as a
confession, but such we believe it to be. In fact, there is no phase of
baptism that is not a confession. In one instance may be seen the person
who confesses. From another view is seen the object of the
confession...Jesus Christ.
Down
but Not Out
Perhaps
you feel out of the running today. Maybe you've stumbled badly. Then
look at Jesus' suffering and at His resurrection. Just imagine what He
has to offer you, no matter how far down you are now!
Salvation by Grace
So "grace"
is Christ dying and giving us the New Testament to guide us. When we
obey its terms, we can have the salvation it offers. Truly the "grace
of God" is a wonderful gift that we really do not deserve! But, if
we don't obey it, we reject God's grace and are lost (2 Thes. 1:8).
Why Did Jesus Come to Earth?
We see that only Jesus can give us life.
But not everyone can have this life that Jesus came to give. Only those
that do the will of the Father can receive it (Matthew 7:21). The
will of the Father is to listen to His Son Jesus (Matthew 17:5).
The Sinner's Prayer
While the above prayer is, indeed,
indicative of humility and contrition, the idea that one who is an alien
sinner can pray for forgiveness—with an inherent right to expect his
sins to be forgiven—is foreign to the New Testament.
Alter Your Direction
Our prayer for ourselves, and for the
church should be as Jesus prayed:
"Not my will, but Thine be done."
Spiritual
Feast
What if there were a source of food and
drink that forever satisfied your hunger? How valuable would that be to
you?

Do You
Know God?
Many people today
claim to believe in God, but that 'belief' is not based on any
information they have received; it is just a 'feeling' more than
anything.
When Do You Remember Jesus?
We are commanded to meet together on the
first day of the week to break bread (Acts 20:7). We are
remembering and proclaiming the Lord's DEATH until He comes again
(1 Cor 11:26) each time (first day of the week) that we partake
of it. We do not partake of the bread and cup in memory of His birth -
whenever that was. It's through His death that we have life!
Why
Christians Cannot Believe in Evolution
In addition to
rational, scientific reasons for rejecting evolution there are some
other solid Biblical reasons why the Christian must reject it.
What Are We Feeding
Ourselves?
As
Christians, we don’t always infuse ourselves with what we need to
“grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ”. Let’s
let the Master (our great example) tell us what He fed on during His
time on earth.
Social
Drinking
Question: When did the
evil steward begin beating the servants? Answer: with the first blow.
When did he begin eating? With the first bite. When did he begin to be
inebriated or drunk? Answer: With the first drink.
Sobriety
To be sober is to be free from any
intoxicant. Certainly, alcohol and drugs represent intoxicants, but,
power, fame, sex, money, and many other things can intoxicate people.
Anything that excites a person so that he constantly desires the same
form of excitement can intoxicate.
For They Shall See God
Wouldn't it be wonderful if people could see God by seeing us? That's
the way it's supposed to be. We are to take all of the characteristics
that have been revealed about our heavenly Father and make those a part
of our own character.
The Lord's Church is You
Your daily acts as a Christian preach more
sermons, teach more people, save more lives than the words that are
spoken inside the four walls of the church building.
