Why Did Jesus Come to Earth?
We see that only Jesus can give us life.
But not everyone can have this life that Jesus came to give. Only those
that do the will of the Father can receive it (Matthew 7:21). The
will of the Father is to listen to His Son Jesus (Matthew 17:5).
The Sinner's Prayer
While the above prayer is, indeed,
indicative of humility and contrition, the idea that one who is an alien
sinner can pray for forgiveness—with an inherent right to expect his
sins to be forgiven—is foreign to the New Testament.
Alter Your Direction
Our prayer for ourselves, and for the
church should be as Jesus prayed:
"Not my will, but Thine be done."
Spiritual Feast
What if there were a source of food and
drink that forever satisfied your hunger? How valuable would that be to
you?
Keys of the Kingdom
Inside the Bible there are
several keys which open (or close) doors important to us now and in the
judgment.
Using WWJD to Beg
Often we find men seeking the blessings of
God’s name without the willingness to follow the commandments.
Who is this Jesus?
When this was first asked
me it was not a matter of grave concern, but when asked again and again
it makes me know that it is a problem that deserves a sensible, simple,
understandable answer that will produce faith or that will strengthen
faith in the hearts of the questioners.
Baptism and the Blood
of Christ
Christ died for us. The death of the sinless Son atoned for
our sin instead of God judiciously exacting the penalty upon each of us.
Baptism a Work of Merit
Many have it ingrained upon their
heart that baptism could not possibly be a condition the sinner must
meet to be saved, and that, if it were, then baptism would be a work of
merit. What saith the Scriptures?...
Living It Up Without God
The millions of footprints left by
humanity in every generation bear testimony of the futility of seeking
paths that lead only in this life. Death becomes a dead-end for those
who seek to find everything in life and never find God.
Things Necessary for
Salvation
Just attending the services of the church does not guarantee salvation.
There is more to do than what is done in the meeting house. That is not
intended to minimize the importance for the assembly; but it is to say
that just meeting on the Lord's Day is not tantamount to faithfulness.
Stealing the Thunder of
the Thief
Well, what about the thief on the cross?
Why is he given so much attention by our religious friends? As Isaiah
predicted, Jesus was "numbered with the transgressors" (Isa. 53:12)
crucified between "two robbers" (Mk. 15:27). But these two men who were
alike in life were separated in death. Only one of them said to Jesus,
"remember me when You come in Your kingdom," to which the Lord replied,
"truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise" (Lk.
23:42,43). Does that prove that a man is saved by faith alone? |
